As good as anything else on the market, and upgradeable for a fee if you need more features.
Does have a pay-for firewall, but use this with Zone Alarm and they're fine.

Free basic firewall software. Each new program needs permission to run, which you can set permanently or to ask each time. Does ask if you want to upgrade each time you reboot, which can be a little anoying. Combine with AVG for good PC protection.
